The Quaker Studies Research Association (QSRA) is the umbrella association of all those interested in research into Quakerism and its findings. It publishes an academically refereed journal, Quaker Studies, which is distributed to members twice a year. (Style guidelines for contributors are here)

QSRA holds an annual conference and co-sponsors. with the Centre for Postgraduate Quaker Studies,  the George Richardson Lecture and David Adshead Award. Members receive a newsletter twice a year.

Membership is free and please contact us if you would like to be added to the mailing list.

December 2015

As Officers of QSRA and members of the Editorial Board of 'Quaker Studies', we are delighted to tell you that we have entered into a new publishing agreement with the award-winning and prestigious Liverpool University Press. We have done this to improve our marketing and scholarly reach and to ensure that our production processes are efficient and that the journal reaches you on time. This allows 'Quaker Studies' gold and green access required for all scholarly journals now. This is an agreement for five years in the first instance.

There will be a few changes which are outlined here.

The journal year will now run in line with the calendar year, so having just sent you 20/1, the next issue will be 21/1.  There will then still be two issues per year of 128 pages, as at present, and they will appear in June and December. We are considering a possible 'new look' to the journal but nothing has been decided about that yet.

In future Liverpool University Press (LUP) will handle all subscriptions and mailings so this time next year you will receive a subscription reminder from LUP, not QSRA. QSRA will then receive a portion of that subscription income so that we can still maintain all the scholarly activities we currently enjoy: the annual conference, the George Richardson Lecture, and the David Adshead Scholarship. Individual subscriptions will go up from £15/£27 to a single £30 rate but this is fixed for the next four years. For 2016, QSRA will pay LUP £30 per subscriber so in effect QSRA is happy to subsidise this increase for 2016.  LUP will be in touch with those with standing orders in good time so that they can be changed before the next renewal in autumn 2016. Institutional subscriptions will also rise so that they are more in line with other journals. Subscriptions will include access to online and indexed access to all journal issues since 2011. Those before 2011 will still be available on the George Fox University digital commons website.

QSRA is still happy to receive donations for its work of course and you can still gift aid those donations! QSRA will still be in touch with you  regularly about events and opportunities although this will be by e-mail rather than paper except for those without internet access.

If you have any questions, please do get in touch. However we are confident that this is a very positive new chapter for the journal.

Every good wish with your work

Ben Pink Dandelion
